
Fabienne McLellan holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Communication and Business Administration from the HWZ University of Applied Sciences, Zurich. Fabienne also completed a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability at Monash University in Melbourne. Fabienne joined OceanCare, an international marine conservation organisation in 2014. Since 2022, she is the Managing Director of OceanCare.
Fabienne’s focus lies on international relations and policy work having attended many UN meetings under UNCLOS (ICP17-20, BBNJ IGC3), UNEP (UNEA4) and daughter agreements (CMS COP12 and COP13), the UN Ocean Conference in 2017, as well as conferences of other MEAs (IWC, RFMOs etc.).
Besides a co-leadership of the species and animal conservation programme, she leads OceanCare’s ‘visible pollution’ programme, including the strategy on marine plastic pollution since 2019. Fabienne represents OceanCare, the main supporter of STRA, in the Steering Committee and brings a marine animal conservation and policy view to the table.
